Simon Fraser University | Kevin Lam
Welcome to the conference webpage for your BCBIO conference, taking place on May 3rd, 2017 at Simon Fraser University. For those who have not attended before, BCBio is an informal gathering of Biology Instructors from universities and colleges throughout BC. During the one day meeting we share teaching strategies, discuss pedagogy, and make connections with fellow local instructors. Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are also welcome.
Registration is now open!
Update (Thursday, April 27): We are approaching room capacity. If you are interested in attending, please email Erin Barley (email@example.com) directly to inquire if there is still space.
Please register soon, by clicking on this link: Registration
Please promote our conference widely by spreading the word to your colleagues and sharing our conference poster: 2017-bcbio-poster
For one of the afternoon slots, we are asking people to think of a favourite tip, tool or trick for effective teaching. We will share these ideas informally for late in the afternoon. Be prepared to talk for 2-5 minutes about your tip/trick (actual time depends on how many people are prepared to talk). It is a variation on show and tell!
The slides from our speakers’ presentations will be posted here, soon after the conference.
In the meantime, please feel free to use this page to plan your trip, and feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks, and I look forward to learning with you soon!
A big thank you goes out to the following publishers and textbook representatives for sponsoring some of the food and drinks for our conference:
Rep: Katie McWhirter (email@example.com)
Rep: Chhaya Jagpal (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Many thanks, also, to Maria Morlin for creating the first BCBIO conference website, upon which this website is based, and for her helpful advice.
